Partnerships and Donors
Partnerships and donors are vital to any nonprofit organization. The following groups and organizations have enhanced the Red Barn Youth Center’s mission to be a place for teens to connect in a supervised environment.
- Altrusa International of Gig Harbor donates a portion of their Empty Bowls fundraiser to us to ensure Red Barn Youth Center youth are well fed.
- Bamford Foundation provided us with a grant to support our After School Program.
- Children’s Home Society partnered with us to provide on-site internet access for 6th through 12th grade youth during the 2020/ 2021 school closures.
- Communities in Schools Peninsula assists us as needed with training connections and resources. They also partnered with us to provide on-site internet access for 6th through 12th grade youth during the 2020/ 2021 school closures.
- FISH Food Bank generously shares their resources with us when they have “extra.”
- Food Backpacks 4 Kids generously shares additional food with us and we share any of our “extra” food with them.
- Gig Harbor Adventist Fellowship provided us with our wonderful commercial refrigerator and provides recurring donations.
- Gig Harbor Morning Rotary and The Rotary Foundation were the generous sponsors of the 2021 RBYC Summer Program.
- Gig Harbor Midday Rotary continues to support Red Barn Youth Center in a variety of ways, including purchasing warm coats and hoodies for the students each December and throwing a generous December holiday party complete with gifts for each student. They also provided funds and labor for the basketball court.
- Harbor Hope Center sends a team of volunteers every December for a work day. The 2023 team planned, purchased, and renovated our kitchen sink! Past work parties include painting the interior, building a greenhouse, cutting up fallen trees, filling potholes, and clearing brush.
- Key Peninsula Library provides special monthly projects at the Red Barn.
- Key Pen Parks has our youth volunteer in their community through special events and projects. Their financial support is an important support as we support our community youth. Their support of our mountain bike field trips has been a huge reason we can continue getting youth on bikes! Their maintenance department helps with grounds-keeping on our site.
- Key Peninsula Partnership for a Healthy Community provides a weekly volunteer through their Community Health Worker outreach grant. Youth and their families have direct access to someone able to walk them through each step of any resource they are needing.
- The Mustard Seed Project provides their shuttle and a driver to take youth to Gateway Park 3 times a year.
- Peninsula Public Schools provides a daily bus service from Henderson Bay High School, Peninsula High School, and Key Peninsula Middle School for youth to access Red Barn Youth Center.
- Pierce County’s Violence Prevention Fund supports our mission to provide a safe, supervised place for youth after school.
- Waypoint Church has been a consistent financial donor to our program since before we even opened!
- Windermere Professional Partners generously volunteers each June in a beautification project of the facility and the property. Recent work parties included clearing our access road, hanging our sign, installing sound proof panels, and organizing our clothes shed.
